Ms. Ross

Greetings from Ms. Ross!

Welcome to RDMS! I am very excited to be the seventh grade school counselor and am eager to get to know the class of 2029 over the next two years!

Transitioning to middle school is a new and exciting experience and is different for everyone. Parents and students should understand that middle school students have more responsibilities than elementary school students do. Changing classes, changing teachers, bell schedules, and time management are some of the new situations that students will encounter each day. This may seem scary because you're now a small fish in a big pond, but remember that all new experiences are a little intimidating at first. Students are faced with balancing sports, after school activities, social priorities, and academic rigors. Middle school students want to move towards independence but still require assistance and support from their parents. Parents are encouraged to be involved and aware of their child’s academic progress, but also allow their child to maintain accountability for their own learning.

A Little About Me:

2023-2024 marks my twentieth year at River Dell Middle School, and each school year brings me new joys and incredible experiences. After completing my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The College of New Jersey, I worked in Public Relations at an Advertising Agency in New York City for several years. Then I continued with my Masters of Science in School Counseling from Long Island University in order to pursue my true passion of working with students. During this time, I worked in a Rockland County middle school as a teacher’s assistant in a Special Education classroom. Finally, I landed at RDMS in September 2004!

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns, or if you would like to set up a meeting with any of your child’s teachers. You can email me at [email protected], or call me at 201-599-7254.
