Ms. Ross

Greetings from Ms. Ross!

As the eighth grade school counselor, I’m thrilled to work with the Class of 2029 for the second year in a row, as I continue to get to know you and your families!

The eighth grade at RDMS evolves with an emphasis on academic success. This is a momentous time in our children’s lives, as they are continuing along their middle school journey and simultaneously becoming emotionally and academically prepared for the high school years ahead. The eighth grade curriculum is rigorous and challenging, and is designed to impart increased responsibility and independence on the students. Parents are encouraged to be involved and aware of their child’s academic progress, but also allow their child to maintain accountability for their own learning. The eighth grade year culminates with students’ overall sense of completion of their early years. They are ready to make their next life transition with excited anticipation for the future.

Just a little bit about me: the 2024-2025 school year is my twenty-first year at River Dell Middle School, and each school year brings me new joys and incredible experiences. After completing my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The College of New Jersey, I worked in Public Relations at an Advertising Agency in New York City for several years. Then I continued with my Masters of Science in School Counseling from Long Island University in order to pursue my true passion of working with students. During this time, I worked in a Rockland County middle school as a teacher’s assistant in a Special Education classroom. Finally, I landed at RDMS in September 2004!

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns, or if you would like to set up a team meeting with any of your child’s teachers. You can email me at [email protected], or call me at 201-599-7254.
